Wars, crises, flight and migration are all issues defining our present-day. Populism and polemics have become the core of political decisions worldwide. We are confronted with fragments of these issues on a daily basis, and this mostly from afar. How do artists tackle these themes? How do they bring us closer to violence, despair or rebellion? What techniques are used in comics, animation or photo reportage to communicate these brutal realities?

A fascinating exhibition of rhythmic animation in which Michaela Müller demonstrates a superb sense of color and form. She creates a strong visual composition in which light is cropped in multicolored stripes that are set into motion. The airport serves as a metaphor for the modern world where people are portrayed as the material particles they are made of. Doubtlessly one of this year’s most powerful artistic experiences within animated film.
